Accoya Deck
Accoya is radiata pine enhanced through a process called acetylation, which changes how the wood interacts with moisture throughout the board. Although it starts as a softwood, this modification gives it excellent resistance to decay and greatly reduces swelling and shrinking, making it well suited to outdoor decking. Accoya is different from Thermopine: its performance comes from acetylation rather than thermal modification.
Accoya does not need sealing to achieve its durability and stability. It can be left uncoated or finished with a compatible exterior decking coating for the desired appearance. Regular cleaning is still necessary, and any applied finish will need maintenance according to the coating manufacturer’s instructions.
